![]() The barrage continues apace though, and this one has every chance of being quite good, coming as it does from the stable that yielded the first two TOCA games, as well as the brilliant Colin McRae series. Maybe down the track we could look at it but nah - just enjoy it or not.The PC Probably needs another driving game like you need a kick in the throat. We've been messing with rF2 since before release and once we started in this direction there was no turning back, after all it is a hobby and I was getting time poor. At least with 5 separates we only have to update one car at a time. We did try as one rfcmp but it makes for a lot of work if that fails. It makes it easier for updating and downloading for us. ![]() Our file sizes are equivalent to all the other mods except we have 5 cars in the mix, therefore 5 times the size. We separated the cars for a reason and I am happy for the files to remain as is. We have lots of parts inside it so that we can add our Supertourers and our 2012 V8's to it soon as our last hurrah. The sounds are the largest part of the files and we're happy to leave it as it is and would prefer that you don't work on compression, we prefer that people leave it as is. There are duplicates in the files but during the creation ISI did allow the naming of certain parts, would have been great if it was like that at the beginning but the amount of duplicated parts is not that big. They have a 2016 series starting January all welcome. A few of you guys went above and beyond, stay tuned for some more testing very soon. Please don't rip any parts from it (those that threatened they would) we worked a long time on this and please show some respect in the process.įlashQld - All 3D models, scripting and stuffįVR Special Access Members for their testing and fault finding. If you don't like it then you don't like it but if you do that's great. If you don't like FVR don't download because we've been there and we do this for our own enjoyment. Please understand that if you find a fault we are only human, this is a hobby and we're not waging any wars over this. We are but a small team of friends spread out on the East Coast of Australia to Tasmania. dBens1 and Feralarri have combined on physics and tyres, with Feralarri assisting me to compile this latest version. Sounds were done by Bebop01 who has since departed to do other things. All 5 cars represented over these 3 years were built in house from scratch by FlashQld and painted by Ferret40. There is our newly modelled VF as promised for the 20 series plus the inclusion of our FGX for 20. There is the new 2016 season and the old faithful 2014. The 2015 season is included with test skins and Adelaide skins at present. We have incorporated 5 years of trackconfigs so we have captured diff and tyres configurations and depending on your track year should result in the correct items. The mod has multiple options in it to suit various configurations of how you want to drive. We also have a User Interface on our website for the mod. 99% of the mod is scratch built, wretched thing the wipers and driver. We are proud that this mod was built from the ground up at FVRFactor. Version 6.0 has some all important physics tweaks and hopefully all cars are visible this time. Version 6.0 needs you to totally remove previous versions. ![]() ![]() The additional assignable buttons on the back are something I was less sure about. Still, both felt good to use although they lacked the haptic feedback functionality of the Xbox Wireless Controller. The bumper had a shorter throw as usual with a more clicky feedback and the trigger had longer travel although not as much as on proper controllers. The bumper and trigger buttons are also well-designed. The joysticks could have used more grip around the edges, but otherwise worked well. The D-pad was also very good if you leave aside the extremely glossy finish that makes it look incredibly dirty all the time. The face buttons worked just as well as on a proper Xbox controller with a good amount of travel and tactility. And finally, on the back are two additional assignable grip buttons.Īll the buttons and joysticks on our review unit worked fine. On top of the device are the shoulder and trigger buttons with a textured finish. The view and menu buttons are placed on either side of the display, along with dedicated buttons for Asus software features. The D-pad on the left is placed below the left joystick, which may trip some people, but never bothered this reviewer even after many years of going back and forth between Xbox and PlayStation controllers. You get four face or action buttons that have the familiar ABXY designation. The grips on the side have a more coarse grain pattern for additional grip and the back has a few different wavy patterns.įor the controls, the ROG Ally goes for a layout that is similar to the Xbox Wireless Controller. There are a few different textures here, the most common one being a fine-grain finish to give it a matte appearance. The entire body is made up of two pieces of hard plastic shell for the front and the back. The ROG Ally has a clean and somewhat reserved design for an ROG product. Depending upon how you look at it, you could say it's less gimmicky or perhaps that it is less imaginative. We are no longer in the era of split dual displays and folding hinges of early Nintendo handhelds nor are there any detachable joy-cons à la the Switch. The ROG Ally features a standard handheld game console form factor with a display in the middle and split controls on the side. Ours crumpled and couldn't support the console's weight after a while. It is seemingly made out of paper and very flimsy. There is also a small stand for the console hidden under the lid of the box. The cardboard stand will get you going but you will need a higher quality one soon The charger, no doubt plucked from one of Asus's notebooks, has a rather long and heavy cable, which feels awkward to use and carry around for a device the size of the Ally. The ROG Ally has fairly simple packaging with mostly just the console and the power brick in the box. ![]() Add to that the brand new AMD Ryzen Z1 series processors, a 120Hz VRR display, and customary ROG flashing lights, and we have a recipe for a rather intriguing device. This means you are no longer tied to downloading games from just Steam and essentially have a full Windows PC with an incredibly compact form factor. Like some of the other players in the market, Asus has gone with the approach of packing in the complete Windows 11 operating system. Not willing to continue watching from the sidelines, Asus has now decided to join the fray with the ROG Ally. The combination of bespoke software tailored around the company's Steam store and reasonable quality hardware at an affordable price meant that the Steam Deck was an instant success for many. Perhaps one of the most unexpected parties to throw its hat into the ring was Valve with its Steam Deck. While Sony and Microsoft haven't responded in kind, we have seen a surprising insurgence of competitors from the PC gaming segment. The handheld console market has gone through a renaissance after the incredible success of the Nintendo Switch. ![]() Honestly it sounded too good to be true when I first heard about it. It’s a launcher that allows you to see and manage all your games, including those you have on PS4 and XB1, in one organized collection. GOG Galaxy 2.0 offers a simple value proposition: manage all your games in one place. This is what first attracted me to GOG Galaxy 2.0. But like with TV streaming services today, there’s a point where there’s just too many entities offering what is essentially the same service with disjointed content. I understand their desire to want to make more money and spend less of it distributing their games. I’m not one of those people who gets angry at companies for not putting their games on Steam. Every publisher has decided they need their own launcher now. ![]() Uplay, Origin, Bethesda, Epic Games Store, and so on. In the time since installing GOG Galaxy 1.0, I have had to add a number of additional game launchers to my system. It’s good as far as launchers go, but there’s nothing particularly better about it compared to other launchers. Eventually I gave in and started using GOG Galaxy. Having to login to access your games is a form of DRM. ![]() Make no mistake, requiring a launcher to access your games is a form of DRM. Some years later, they released the GOG Galaxy launcher, which I was against at first because it meant having to have yet another launcher and that suddenly DRM was slowly, and sadly, becoming a thing for GOG. For me, this was always a better, more convenient option than Steam. You just went to their site and downloaded the entire DRM free game you purchased directly to be used offline. One of the main reasons I really liked them when I first found out about them was how convenient their distribution system was. Though their selection is limited compared to Steam and other PC game distributors, I try to buy from them wherever applicable. They’re actually my favorite storefront to buy PC games from. ![]() For users wanting to keep their environment lean, looking at the settings indicates that a future update to Galaxy will allow it to stop and start the other clients as needed so if you don’t mind the initial wait for games to load and update you’ll be covered too.I’m a big fan of GOG and have been for many years. To make the best use of Galaxy 2.0 at this stage you might want to have all of the respective clients running at the same time so that they remain updated otherwise you can be caught out and have to wait before you play but that it actually works is quite cool. The presentation ensures nothing looks out of place and icons are used throughout to indicate the source for games, data and achievements. The process to add them is quite painless and after a short wait for Galaxy to pull in that service’s details you’ll soon see the games added to the overall library. The Xbox Live integration is officially supported but there are already community created ones for Epic Games Store, PlayStation Network, Origin, Steam and UPlay. On installing the new client (which replaces the current version) you can jump into the settings menu and quickly add your other services. I finally got my chance to join the closed beta for the new GOG Galaxy client and my early impressions are that the GOG team are already delivering on that promise of creating the one gateway to all of your games libraries. |
